Project 36 GastroHub is a cultural documentation initiative dedicated to mapping Nigerian gastronomy across the country’s 36 states.
We explore how food reflects history, identity, and the lived experiences of people in each region.
Preserving traditional recipes and ancestral cooking methods.
Mapping indigenous produce and exploring their historical roots.
Highlighting farmers, cooks, artisans, and custodians of culinary identity.
Showcasing the role of food in ceremonies and daily life.
Promoting farm-to-table practices and reducing food waste.
Nigeria’s food culture is one of the most diverse and dynamic in Africa, yet remains under-researched, under-documented, and underrepresented globally.
Project 36 seeks to close this gap by creating a national culinary record that:
supports cultural preservation,
drives food tourism,
deepens national pride, and
contributes to global gastronomic knowledge.
